From their humble origins at Cape Town, they’ve grown to more than 220 locations across South Africa and Africa as an entire continent.
There’s plenty of Mugg and Bean locations in Capetown, With about 15 restaurants waiting to serve you from their menu.
It’s a similar sight in Johannesburg, where plenty of locations are scattered around the city waiting for you to visit.

About Mugg & Bean

It all began when Ben Filmalter, back in the early 90s during a trip to Chicago’s South Side of Chicago.
He was there with Judi, his partner.
Judi when they stumbled upon the small coffee shop that was unmatched in their level of generosity.
After returning to their home located in Cape Town, he opened the first Mugg and Bean coffee shop in 1996.
Mugg and Bean’s Mugg and Bean menu served by Mugg and Bean were one of the first menus in South Africa to serve bottomless coffee, along with their ample portions of food for you to order.
Within seven years, the chain that was growing fast had grown to over 80 locations across the country.
With much of its success because Ben dreamed of constructing an espresso bar and a place that welcomed customers but left as friends.
Unfortunately, Ben recently passed away in 2016. However, his legacy will certainly continue to live on.
In addition to their bottomless, delicious coffee and generous portions of food, there was nothing to stop them today.
Today, there are over 220 outlets worldwide, with delicious breakfast, coffee and lunch waiting for you to eat.
Another restaurant growing at a rate comparable to or faster as Mugg and Bean is RocoMamas.
The unique smash burgers on the RocoMamas menu attract hundreds of South Africans streaming through their doors every day.
